Pandoc is a Haskell library for converting from one markup format to another, and a command-line tool that uses this library. For the full lists of input and output formats, see the --from and --to options below. Pandoc has a modular design: it consists of a set of readers, which parse text in a given format and produce a native representation of the document an abstract syntax tree or ASTand a set of writers, which convert this native representation into a target format.
Altering the paragraph formatting is rarely necessary in academic writing. It is primarily used for formatting text in floats or for more exotic documents. Paragraphs in LaTeX are usually fully justified, i.
While preparing my slides for the upcoming Dutch LaTeX course I'll be giving if you're interested, contact me for our ACM Student Chapter I got puzzled by the fact beamer requires me to use [fragile] as the option to every slide containing verbatim text. I decided to figure it out. First, what does fragile mean? It has to do with expansion and execution: TeX does these at the same time, first it reads an token, expands it so that only low-level tokens are left and then executes it.
L a T e X is widely used in science and programming has become an important aspect in several areas of science, hence the need for a tool that properly displays code. This article explains how to use the standard verbatim environment as well as the package listingswhich provide more advanced code-formatting features. This separate article discusses the minted package, which performs syntax-highlighting using Python's pygmentize library.
This can be done using the verbatim environment. With this package, you first need to specify the programming language. The optional argument is discussed below.

If you are documenting computer procedures, you probably need fixed-width type for examples of programming or data input or output. Even if you are writing about completely non-computer topics, you may often want to quote a URIfilename, or email address which needs to be typeset specially.
